Marcel Shepert is the executive director of the Fraser River Aboriginal Fisheries Secretariat and the Upper Fraser Fisheries Conservation Alliance. He has previously been a coordinator for the Carrier Sekani Tribal Council.

 

Among his accomplishments, he co-authored an influential report entitled, "Our Place at the Table: First Nations in the BC Fishery". Marcel has been a First Nations negotiator on the Fraser River Panel of the Pacific Salmon Commission since 2002.

 

Having lived and worked in Europe, and traveled extensively throughout the continent for three years, Marcel is passionate about preserving our natural resources for future generations. Academically trained at the Open Learning agency of British Columbia, in Ontario at Mohawk College of Applied Arts and Technology, British Columbia Institute of Technology, and the Justice Institute of British Columbia, his focus ranges from international marketing and communications, to negotiations and conflict resolution.
